Trumpet Plant Leaves Turning Yellow

I have been growing this for 2 years and it is 9 feet tall with beautiful blossoms.

Trumpet dress with overskirt. I have always watered it morning and night with 12 teaspoon miracle gro per 2 gal. If using water does not remove the infestation treat the plant with an insecticide or introduce lacewings and ladybugs to the angel trumpet plants. That plant likes bright light and morning sun but not direct afternoon sun.

An angel trumpet with aphids has pale or sometimes yellow spots on the leaves and stems. Improper watering can lead the leaves of the angel trumpet plant to turn yellow. If watering is your trouble the yellowing leaves will be accompanied by overall wilting or drooping in the plant.

Sticky white spots appear on dipladenia leaves if a cottony white substance starts covering leaves a scale insect colony has appeared. The aphids are usually found on the underside of the leaves. The leaves have started to turn yellow and are falling off.

Since the leaves affected are near the bottom of the plant i suspect the soil is too wet. Insects pesky insects such as scale or mites may be to blame for problems with trumpet vines. Angel trumpet requires a bright full sun location with organically rich well draining soil.

It is also possible that the potting soilmedium is too heavy and holds too much moisture. Try to keep the soil moist but not soggy. It is probably either a temporary lack of water or a lack of nitrogen fertilizer or even both.

Dipladenia leaves most often turn yellow when they were exposed to the cold or to lack of water. I have an angel trumpet in a pot. Fertilize the plant with a liquid plant food such as miracle gro several times make applications a week apart and it should improve and the leaf yellowing should stop.

Scale consists of tiny sap sucking insects that live under waxy shells. If it gets bad enough the leaves may even fall off. Eventually the leaves turn brown and might curl or become stunted.

You can treat it easily with neem oil applied to both sides of the leaves at 7 to 14 day intervals for several weeks. Protect your dipladenia from drafts especially in winter and regularly spray water on their leaves. Heat excessive heat may be the reason for trumpet vine leaves falling off or turning yellow.

Water regularly to keep the soil moist because water stressed plants may develop wilted yellow. Angel trumpet leaves turn yellow and fall off. Spraying with water every other morning knocks the aphids off the plants.
